How to Apply for Learner's License in Maharashtra?

Eligibility for Learner’s License in Maharashtra

Any person after completion 18 years is eligible to apply for a Driving license (Learner/Permanent). 
Any person after attaining the age of 16 yrs is eligible to apply for license for motorcycle without gear engine capacity not exceeding 50cc with written consent of parent/guardian.
The eligible age to apply for license to drive a transport vehicle in any public place is 20 yrs. No person shall be granted a learner’s license to drive a transport vehicle unless he has held a driving license to drive a light motor vehicle for at least one year.

How to Apply for Permanent Driving License in Maharashtra?

Eligibility of Permanent Driving License in Maharashtra

The learner license holder should appear for the test of competence for obtaining the permanent license after 30 days and within 6 months from issue of Learner License. Learner’s License is valid for 6 months and cannot be renewed.

How to Renew your Driving License in Maharashtra?

  • Application for DL renewal may be made one year prior to date of license expiry or within a year after expiry.
  • Driving license will be renewed with effect from the date of its renewal in case it is renewed prior to expiration date.
  • Driving license cannot be renewed after a period of 5 years after expiry of the license.
  • If license is not renewed within one year post expiry, applicant shall have to re-take the driving test and prove competence.

How to Get a Duplicate Driving License in Maharashtra?

  7. Applicant should submit the application in whose jurisdiction he stays. It is advisable to applicant to get the necessary changes about the address on Motor Driving License before submitting the application for IDP.
  8. The applicant is required to appear before licensing authority for grant of IDP.
