The Aprilia SR 160 is a newer, larger-displacement version of the SR 150 sport scooter. While both the models boast of an identical design with sharp and angular pit scooter-like body panels, the former is differentiated by the ‘SR 160’ decals on its front apron and side panels.
In terms of mechanicals, the most important change comes underneath the SR160 in the form of a larger 160cc, BS6-compliant, fuel-injected motor. It churns out 10.7bhp at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm which is a minor increase of 0.5bhp and 0.2Nm over the BS4 model.
As for the cycle parts, the SR160 retains the same wheels, suspension and brakes which can be seen in the SR 150 and SR 125. It rides on large 14-inch alloy wheels which are suspended by 30mm telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is delivered by a 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum at the rear, assisted by a single-channel ABS as standard. The list of features includes a semi-digital instrument cluster and conventional headlamp with an LED tail lamp.
As for competition, the Aprilia SR160 does not have a direct rival in India. However, there is another 125cc scooter with a sporty character in the form of the TVS Ntorq 125.
