Maruti Suzuki Nexa XL6 launched at ₹9.79 lakh

MSIL on Wednesday launched its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) XL6 at a price range of ₹9.79 lakh to ₹11.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle will be sold through the company’s Nexa chain of premium dealerships.

XL6 has been launched in India with Bharat Stage 6-compliant K15 petrol engine.

“There is a considerable increase in demand for premium MPVs owing to the ever-evolving customer needs. At Maruti Suzuki, we always bring out products that match and compliment customer’s demand. Backed by NEXA’s focus on creation and innovation, the XL6 is a testament of our commitment to bring the newest technologies to our customers,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

“The XL6 strikes a perfect balance of style, space, comfort, performance and safety. We are confident that our exclusive 6-seater, the XL6 will strike a chord with today’s customer who seeks comfort and style,” said Ayukawa.

Design-wise, the XL6 is not too dissimilar to the standard Ertiga. However, it does feature a restyled front-end sporting a larger grille with chrome detailing, new LED headlamps, a chunkier bumper and a faux skid-plate. The model also gets blacked-out 15-inch alloy wheels and mirror caps, roof rails and plastic side-body cladding. At the back, there’s a reworked bumper with cladding and a faux skid-plate.

Maruti offers six colour options – Nexa Blue, Brave Khaki, Auburn Red, Magma Grey, Premium Silver and Arctic White.

The interior gets an all-black theme, which is different from the beige seen in the standard Ertiga.

In terms of equipment, the top-spec XL6 Alpha variant gets Maruti’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment unit, which comprises a 7.0-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, automatic headlamps and wipers, LED DRLs, key-less entry with push-button start/stop, cruise control, a rear parking camera and height adjust for the driver’s seat. Standard safety equipment consists of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a speed warning system and seat-belt reminders for the driver and co-driver.

The XL6 is powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that does duty in the Ciaz sedan and the standard Ertiga. The engine puts out 105hp and 138Nm of torque; it is BS6-compliant and comes with Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology, which aids fuel efficiency. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

With the launch of XL6, Maruti’s product portfolio in the utility vehicle segment will have three offerings – Vitara Brezza and Ertiga being the other two. The XL6 will help the company compete with new entrants – Seltos from Kia Motors India ltd and Hector from MG Motor India Ltd.
