How to Apply for Learner's License in Madhya Pradesh?

Eligibility for Learner’s License in Madhya Pradesh

  1. Age greater than 16 years but are less than 18 years are eligible for a License to drive only a motor cycle up to 50cc engine capacity i.e. motor cycle without gear. For this, they require the consent of their parents / guardians.
  2. Age greater than 18 years are eligible to obtain License for a motor cycle equipped with gears and also for a Light Motor Vehicle [Motor Car].
  3. Age greater than 20 years of age are eligible to obtain a License to drive a transport vehicle, i.e., a vehicle used to carry passengers or goods for hire or reward etc. such as taxi, auto rickshaw, bus or truck but they must have passed middle standard examination i.e. 8th standard

Documents Required for Learner’s License in Madhya Pradesh

  1. Fee of Rs. 150/- for each category of Vehicle applied (Plus Rs. 50/- for LL Test).
  2. Applications in Form 1, Form 1A [Medical Certificates as issued by any M.B.B.S. doctor] and Form 2
  3. Three recent passport size photographs.
  4. Proof of your ordinarily residing address any one of the following documents:
    • Electoral Roll (Voter ID Card)
    • Adhaar Card
    • Life Insurance Policy
    • Passport
    • Pay slip issued by any office of the Central Government or a State Government or a local body.
  5. Proof of your date of birth any one of the following documents:
  • School Certificate
  • Birth Certificate

How to Apply for Driving License in Madhya Pradesh?

Eligibility of getting a permanent Driving License in Madhya Pradesh

To be able to procure a driving license in the state of Madhya Pradesh, an applicant has to meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • An applicant should have completed 18 years of age (16 in case of up to 50cc engine)
  • The applicant should possess a learner’s license
  • The applicant should apply for a DL after 30 days and before 180 days of getting a learner’s license

How to get a driving license at RTO in Madhya Pradesh?

  • An applicant for driving license will have to visit the nearest RTO website and submit form 4 and the other relevant documents.
  • The applicant will then have to give a driving test on the basis of which he will be issued a driving license.
  • If the applicant passes the test, he will have to give his biometrics and the license will be sent to him via post at his registered address.

How to Get a Duplicate Driving License in Madhya Pradesh?

If your license is stolen, misplaced or torn, then you can apply for a duplicate driving license in Madhya Pradesh by following the below steps.

Getting a duplicate DL in case it’s stolen:

  • In case if the license is stolen, the applicant will have to first file an FIR and submit the copy of the same at the RTO office.
  • If the applicant remembers the DL number, then he will have to mention the same in the duplicate driving license application form LLD.
  • Form 1A i.e. physical fitness form
  • In case of duplicate driving license form for a commercial vehicle, a challan clearance report has to be obtained from the traffic police department.
  • Application fees of Rs. 200
  • Along with the above documents, the applicant will also have to submit his age and address proofs.
  • All the above documents have to be photocopied and attested by notary public or a gazetted officer.

Note: If the applicant does not remember his license number, then he will have to apply for a new driving license from the same RTO that first issued him the DL. An applicant can also apply for duplicate driving license online by visiting the Madhya Pradesh Transport website and selecting the Duplicate Website Option.

How to Renew Your Driving License in Madhya Pradesh?

Ideally, a driving license is valid for a period of 20 years or until the age of 50, whichever is earlier. This is valid almost across the country barring a few states.

Here’s how you can renew your driving license in the Madhya Pradesh.

Documents required for renewing a driving license for private vehicle

  • Form 1 i.e. form for the declaration of physical fitness
  • Form 9 i.e. form for renewal of driving license
  • Original driving license
  • 3 passport size photographs
  • Age and address proof documents

Documents required for renewing the driving license for a commercial vehicle

  • Form 1A i.e. medical certificate form
  • Refresher training certificate
  • Age and address proof documents
  • Form 9 and Form 1
  • 3 passport size photocopies
  • Copy of the original driving license

For renewal of a driving license, all the above documents have to be submitted to the RTO office. In case of private vehicle DL renewal, the renewed driving license is issued on the same day. But in case of DL for commercial vehicle, the DL is sent to the registered address of the applicant. An applicant can also apply for renewal of driving license online by visiting the Madhya Pradesh Goverment Transport website and clicking on license appointment tab on the homepage and then clicking on the DL-renewal tab. For the online renewal process, the applicant will have to enter his driving license number and date of birth.

How to Apply for an International Driving License from Madhya Pradesh?

If an individual wishes to drive a motor vehicle overseas then he can apply for an International driving license that will give him the legal freedom to drive his vehicle on foreign land.

An International driving license can be obtained by an individual from any RTO office in Madhya Pradesh. The individual will have to furnish the below documents to get an International driving license in Madhya Pradesh.

  • Attested copy of the permanent driving license
  • Attested copy of visa and passport
  • 5 passport size photographs
  • Attested copy of age and address proof
  • Nationality proof
  • Medical Form 1-A and Form 4-A
  • A Fee of Rs.500

How to Add a new class to your Driving License from Madhya Pradesh?

For adding a new vehicle class to your motor vehicle, you will have to fill and submit Form 8 and other documents such as age and address proof, Form 1A and driving certificate in case of addition of transport vehicle class.
